Since Phil and Olivia took over The Barford Inn in October 2018, they have developed a great relationship with their guests and their village, and have worked incredibly hard to place their pub at the heart of the community.
Their Pub of the Year Award nomination stated: “The success of this ancient coaching inn, which dates back more than 600 years, can be firmly attributed to the passionate and inspirational management of landlords Phil and Olivia Stapley. In just two years they have become the life-blood of the village”.
Olivia explains how delighted they are to be recognised by their community: “We are deeply honoured to have won the Pub of the Year Award at a time when we have experienced the community life at its best. This award goes to the people of Barford St. Martin, the little village which has shown so much love to its local pub, as well as our customers in Wiltshire and further afield, our fantastic team, and to Hall & Woodhouse, the family brewers who have spared no efforts in supporting their business partners throughout the pandemic.”
Duncan Rouse, Head of Business Partnerships at Hall & Woodhouse, was delighted with Olivia and Phil’s great achievement and said: “deserved congratulations for The Barford Inn who were crowned Pub of the Year last Friday by the Wiltshire Life Magazine. This is really great recognition for all of Phil and Olivia’s hard work, they have made the pub a massive part of their community and I look forward to seeing the business grow once we can re-open fully.”
Huge congratulations Phil and Olivia! This award is so well deserved and is a testament to your enthusiasm and dedication in running a vibrant and community-focused village pub. All of us in the Business Partnerships team wish you continued success for the future!
